Navigate CalicoTab

What is CalicoTab?

- CalicoTab, also known as Tabbycat, is an online draw tabulation for debate competitions. This platform is highly configurable allowing custom variations for hosting various debate formats including Australs, World Schools, Asian Parliamentary, British Parliamentary, Australian Easter, and New Zealand debate formats.

Homepage

- The homepage of CalicoTab shows the list of competitions held by the hosting institution. By clicking on a certain competition title, the user will be redirected to a new web page containing more information about the competition.

Competition Web Page

- The Competition Web Page of CalicoTab shows the summary sections of the competition including the Team Tab, Categorized Teams Tab, Speaker Tab, Categorized Speaker Tab, Replies Tab, Motion Tab, Results, Motions, Participants, Feedback Progress, and the Enter Feedback option. These sections are also visible at the top Navigation panel of the Competition Web Page. By clicking on these sections, the user will be redirected to a specific tab page.

  • Team Tab - This page shows the list of teams for the Open category of the competition.

    - The upper left corner of the screen shows the title of the competition (e.g., China Nationals 2023). Beside this is the navigation panel for the sections of the competition.

    - Below the tile of the competition is the title of the tab (e.g., Team Tab) which shows which tab the user is viewing.

    - Under the title of the tab is the “Find” panel which allows the user to search for information from the tab.

    - The Team Tab table shows the user all the details of the team including Rank, Team Name and Composition, Categories, Round Opponents and Results, Wins, Total Speaker Scores, Average Margins, and Iron.

    - By pointing the mouse cursor on the Team Name, the names of the team members will be revealed.

    - And by pointing the mouse cursor on the icons under a specific round, the results of this round will be revealed as well as the names of the competitors and their scores. There is also an option for the user to “View Debate Ballot” and “View Team’s Record” for more details.

  • Categorized Teams Tab - The Categorized Teams Tab shows the list of teams for a specific category (e.g., Under 16, Under 15, Under 14, etc.) of the competition.

    - This page has the same interface as the Team Tab page. It also features the title of the competition on the upper left corner of the screen, the top navigation panel, the title of the tab, a “Find” panel, and a table that shows the details of the competition.

    - The difference is the table contains information about teams in a specific category only featuring their Rank, Team Name and Composition, Categories, Round Opponents and Results, Wins, Total Speaker Scores, Average Margins, and Iron.

    - A sample of the Under 16 Team Tab is provided below:

  • Speaker Tab - This page shows the list of all the individual speakers in this competition.

    - Like the Team Tab and the Categorized Team tab, this also features the title of the competition on the upper left corner of the screen, the top navigation panel, the title of the tab, and a “Find” panel.

    - The difference is that the table contains information about individual speakers featuring their Rank, Name, Categories, Team Name, Score Accumulated per Round, Average, Standard Deviation, and Number of Speeches.

    - A sample of the Speaker tab is provided below:

  • Categorized Speakers Tab - The Categorized Speaker Tab shows the list of all the individual speakers in a specific category of the competition (e.g., Under 16, Under 15, Under 14, etc.).

    - This page has the same interface as the other pages. It also features the title of the competition on the upper left corner of the screen, the top navigation panel, the title of the tab, a “Find” panel, and a table that shows the details of the competition.

    - The difference is that the table contains information about individual speakers of a specific category only featuring their Rank, Name, Categories, Team Name, Score Accumulated per Round, Average, Standard Deviation, and Number of Speeches.

  • Reply Speaker Tab - The Reply Speaker Tab shows the list of all the reply speakers of the competition.

    - This page has the same interface as the other pages. It also features the title of the competition on the upper left corner of the screen, the top navigation panel, the title of the tab, and a “Find” panel.

    - The difference is that the table contains information about the reply speakers only featuring their Rank, Name, Categories, Team Name, Score Accumulated per Round, Average, Standard Deviation, and Number of Replies Given.

    - A sample of the Reply Speaker Tab is provided below:

  • Motions Tab - The Motions Tab shows the list of motions of the competition and the motion balance and other relevant statistics of a certain round.

    - By clicking the “View Info Slide”, more information about the motion will be shown to the user.

  • Results Tab - The Results Tab shows the win and loss records of the competition.

    - The Results section on the top navigation panel provides a drop-down menu of the rounds and categories. By clicking on a specific round or category, the user will be redirected to the page featuring the results of that option.

    - The results can be viewed by team or by debate using the upper left menu below the tab name.

  • Participants Tab - The Participants Tab shows the names of the speakers, their categories, and teams as well as the names of the participating adjudicators.
  • Feedback Progress Tab - The Feedback Progress Tab shows the number of feedback given by the adjudicators and the teams.
  • Enter Feedback Tab - The Enter Feedback tab is the page where the teams or the adjudicators can input their feedback.
